Botox® Cosmetic is an injectable product that reduces the appearance of fine lines on the face. It can soften brow furrows, eliminate crow’s feet, and more. Learn about Botox for Austin patients during a consultation with Dr. Aisha White.

At Quintessence Plastic Surgery, we have years of experience with using Botox to help patients maintain that fresh, youthful appearance that we are all striving for. We can provide you with the professional aesthetic care you need to result in a positive Botox experience.

What Is Botox®?

Botox® is a cosmetic product from Allergan and is derived from Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium found in natural settings. Botox contains a neurotoxin produced by Clostridium botulinum known as botulinum toxin type A. This toxin is capable of causing temporary muscle paralysis.

Facial muscle contractions are an underlying cause of wrinkle formation. After the muscles have contracted in the same manner over and over for years, they stiffen. It becomes difficult for them to relax back into their natural positions. Botox prevents the muscles from contracting, thereby allowing them to finally relax, smoothing away facial lines, such as frown lines and crow’s feet.

Ideal Botox® Candidates

Deciding between Botox® or Injectable Fillers?

Some basic guidelines to help you determine whether Botox or a Dermal Filler is the best option for you.

Ideal candidates for Botox® injections include individuals with noticeable static facial lines who would like to rejuvenate their appearance. This includes older individuals who want to maintain a youthful appearance and younger people trying to combat the early visible signs of aging. Botox is safe to use on both men and women.

Botox® can be used to treat an array of common facial wrinkles. It can improve the appearance of:

  • Horizontal frown lines on the forehead
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Vertical brow lines
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Bunny lines on the nose
  • Smoker’s lines above and below the lips
  • Harsh vertical neck bands
  • The jaw and jawline (by relaxing the masseter muscles)

Botox® injections can also be used to address medical issues, including hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in the armpits and other areas) and migraine headaches.

For patients with undereye depressions and moderate-to-deep age lines around the nose and mouth, the best corrective option is typically cosmetic facial fillers rather than Botox. We offer a number of effective dermal filler products.

The Botox® Treatment Procedure

The entire Botox® treatment process only takes around 20 to 30 minutes to complete. It is non-surgical and only minimally invasive. A topical numbing cream can be applied to minimize any discomfort.

Several intramuscular injections of precise amounts of Botox will be made in the areas of the face that were discussed during the initial consultation. Botox patients aren’t administered any local or general anesthesia and can go back to their normal daily activities immediately.

In most cases, patients start experiencing results within a couple of days after the treatment. Your Botox results will continue to improve over the coming weeks. In most cases, Botox lasts for around three to four months. For a good idea of what results can look like, view our Botox before and after photos.

Awesome results and great experience! Dr. Aisha White was incredible and everything I look for in a doctor. Her explanation of my micro needling experience and the results I could expect were spot on. My skin looks younger and refreshed. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Lip Flip vs. Lip Filler

Trying to decide between a “lip flip” and lip filler? This may help. And, the good news is, if you can’t decide, doing both is an option too!

Post-Procedure Care

While a recovery period may not be required after Botox®, some patients do prefer to rest for around an hour after their treatment. There may be some redness around the Botox® injection sites. It is best to avoid physically demanding activities for at least a day after the session. You should also avoid scratching or massaging the areas where Botox® was injected.

Botox® Cost

A Botox® injection varies in price depending on where you go for your treatment. Botox® cost is determined by the number of units needed to achieve your aesthetic goals.
